Case Hardening Services for Dandenong Manufacturers

Alpha Detroit provides case hardening for manufacturers and engineering businesses in Dandenong and Melbourne’s south-eastern industrial corridor. Available processes include sealed-quench carburising, salt-pot case hardening, pack carburising and carbonitriding for suitable steel components.

The correct treatment route and case depth must be determined from the material, geometry, service conditions and engineering specification. Send us the component drawing, steel grade, required surface hardness, case depth and batch quantity for technical review.

Components Commonly Requiring Case Hardening

Case hardening is commonly assessed for gears, pinions, shafts, sprockets, bushes, power-transmission parts and other wear-critical machine components. It is intended to provide a hard surface with a tougher supporting core when the steel grade and service conditions suit the selected process.

Selecting the Correct Case Depth

Case depth cannot be selected responsibly from component type alone. The treatment specification should consider the steel grade, required surface hardness, core strength, section thickness, contact stress, wear and fatigue conditions, grinding allowance, distortion limits and downstream machining.

Alpha Detroit publishes heavy and light case-depth capability but does not publish a universal numerical tolerance. Final case-depth and dimensional acceptance criteria must therefore come from the client drawing, purchase order or nominated engineering standard.
